In Part One of our Philly's Special Series, we'll hear from an all-star panel about new developments in Philadelphia public interest law:

Dveera Segal, HLS '79 and Chair of the HIAS
Pennsylvania Board of Directors, will speak about
ongoing efforts to support and protect vulnerable immigrant communities. -
Deborah Gordon Klehr, HLS '04 and the Executive
Director of the Education Law Center, will discuss
ELC programs aimed at ensuring all children
in Pennsylvania have access to a quality public
education. -
Susan Mangold, HLS '87 and the Executive Director
of the Juvenile Law Center, will report on the
many ways JLC is advocating for the rights of
youth in the child welfare and justice systems. -
Michael Churchill, HLS '65 and Of Counsel at the
Public Interest Law Center (formerly PILC's
managing partner and co-director), will discuss
the PILC's redistricting litigation and the school
funding challenge that PILC is spearheading with
the Education Law Center. -
Jessica Hillburn-Holmes, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, and Deborah Gross,
Trustee of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, will
describe the forthcoming Equal Justice Center, a groundbreaking non-profit space that will be home
to almost 20 public service legal aid agencies and
social services organizations, and a resource for all Philadelphians seeking equal access to justice.
